Engineering Day at Peoria Riverfront Museum
Every year in February, participants come through the Riverfront Museum in downtown Peoria to participate in the celebration of Engineering Day! It is a free event filled with amazing displays, events, and experiments. SWE presents many different activities including art-bots, the study of friction, make your own helicopters, model truck assembly, as well as the demonstration of a working 3D printer.
Engineering Day 2023
This year, Engineering Day was held at both the Peoria Riverfront Museum & Caterpillar Visitors Center on Sunday, February 19th.
SWE-CI displayed a plethora of STEM activities: pH levels, magnetic slime, spirograph, light table, flashlight and button/keychain making. Thanks to our SWE-Central IL and Bradley University SWE Collegiate Section volunteers, each station ran efficiently—for hours.
In addition to those activities, some of our SWE-CI ladies reviewed resumes in the Caterpillar Visitors Center, during the event. SWE-CI Outreach was made possible, thanks to the sponsorship & funding from Caterpillar.
With approximately 2,000 attendees (compared to ~1600 last year), we helped inspire future engineers, scientists, and kids of all ages!
